Our hotel in the Racines/Ratschings hiking paradise Pristine nature in South Tyrolean mountains
Alto Adige/South Tyrol – an unmistakable paradise with many hiking trails at various altitudes and degrees of difficulty.
From the sun-drenched valley bottom with numerous themed trails you shall come across green forests, rolling Alpine meadows with quaint lodges, through to the majestic mountain peaks - everything that hikers and climbers could possibly wish for, can be found here.
The Racines/Ratschings cable car, which you can easily reach from our hotel in just a few minutes' walk, takes you daily up to 1,800m from mid-June to late September.
Were you can find the starting point for the Racines MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE WORLD which inspires young and old with numerous adventures such as a giant slide, viewing tower and climbing frames; suitable for prams, height difference 50 m, duration approx. 45 minutes.
Our hiking tips:
Gilfenklamm gorge – is the only gorge worldwide, which is engraved deep in pure white marble; open from early May to early November, hiking time in the upwardly direction of the gorge approx. 45 – 60 minutes.
Racine/Ratschings valley trail - Pfeifer Huisile path - Barefoot trail
Easy hike (one way, duration approx. 1 ½ h) with starting point on our doorstep. In Flading, there is a Jausenstation (restaurant) and a small pilgrimage church invites you to take a contemplative rest. Information boards will inform you of the adventures of the famous warlock Piper Huisile (Pfeifer Huisile) along the way. The barefoot trail also runs parallel.
Racine/Ratschings Alpine trail
Medium mountain hike with starting point at the mountain station of the Racines cable car. The path leads us from Alpine lodge to lodge: Wasserfalleralm, Saxnerhütte, Wumblsalm (outer), Wumblsalm (inner) and Klammalm. From there you can take the marked trail no. 12 back down to Flading.
Themed trails in the area: Naturalist path Wolfsthurn Castle, Wipptal Bienen-trail (on this path you will find out more and more at each stop about the bees), waterfall trail, Dolomieu-trail, Pilgrimage trail to Trens.
And besides, there are still 1000 other possibilities - in terms of Nordic walking, with a high Alpine hiking tour to the highest situated refuge in Europe, the high ropes course garden in Vipiteno/Sterzing or Ladurno/Ladurns...
